History: MACIAG LAW, LLC was founded in 1990 in Somerville, N.J. From 1990 to 1994 the law firm was known as Maciag, Tomasek & Jamison, as Maciag & Northgrave, and as Maciag, Dickson & Maguire. From 1994 to 2004 the law firm was known as Maciag & Associates. From 2004 to the present the firm has been known as Maciag Law, LLC. Prior to founding this law firm in 1990, Mr. Maciag was an associate attorney at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Debevoise in Newark, N.J. from 1981 to 1982, and was a partner and associate at Bathgate, Wegener, Wouters & Neumann in Newark and Lakewood, N.J. from 1986 to 1990. From 1982 to 1984 Mr. Maciag served in the Office of the Governor, Hon. Thomas H. Kean of New Jersey, as Special Counsel to the Governor.

Ted Maciag holds degrees from the University of Virginia School of Law (Juris Doctor, 1981), the Wharton School of Finance & Commerce (B.S.Ec. cum laude, Accounting & Finance, 1976), and the University of Pennsylvania (A.B. cum laude, Public Policy, 1977). He did Graduate study in the M.A. Program in American Government & Public Administration at the University of Virginia (1979-81).
Mr. Maciag has argued precedent-setting landmark cases before the Supreme Court of New Jersey, and has several reported decisions in the Supreme Court of N.J. and the Appellate Division of N.J. Superior Court (see below for list and links to published court decisions).
Mr. Maciag's experience includes public service in Federal, State, County and Municipal government:
STATE: Mr. Maciag served in the Office of the Governor, Hon. Thomas H. Kean of N.J. (1981-1984) as Associate Chief Counsel & Special Counsel to the Governor for Treasury, Budget & Finance, and as the Governor's liaison to the Cabinet, the Office of Management & Budget, and the Senate/Assembly Joint Appropriations Committee. He served as Deputy Executive Director, New Jersey Housing & Mortgage Finance Agency (1984-1986), as Governor's counsel to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (1982-1984), and as a Member of the New Jersey State Commission on Capital Budgeting & Planning (1983-84).
FEDERAL: Mr. Maciag served as Washington Staff Chief to United States Congressman James M. Collins, Ranking Member, Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee, House Energy & Commerce Committee, U.S. House of Representatives (1976-1978).
COUNTY: Mr. Maciag served as Special Counsel to the Somerset County Board of Freeholders (1991).
MUNICIPAL: Mr. Maciag served as Mayor of Montgomery Township, Somerset County, New Jersey (1995-1996), as Deputy Mayor (1997-1999) and Township Committeeman (elected 1992, re-elected 1995). He also served Montgomery Twp. as a member of the Planning Board (1995-1996), the Zoning Board of Adjustment (1999), and the Open Space Committee (1995-1997 and 1999-2004). He served as Montgomery Township Municipal Republican Chairman (1998-2002).
Ted Maciag served as Municipal Attorney, Borough of Manville, Somerset County (1994-1996).
Experienced in Election Law and Election Recounts, Mr. Maciag has served as counsel to both Republican and Democratic federal, state, county and municipal election campaigns, including appearing before the N.J. Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and Law Division in Election Law litigation. He has served as statewide election law counsel to Tom Kean Jr. for U.S. Senate (2006); as statewide general counsel to Bret Schundler for Governor (2005 and 2001) and as State Co-Chair of Lawyers for Schundler in both 2005 and 2001; as counsel to Doug Forrester for U.S. Senate (2002), as assistant counsel and Hudson County recount attorney to Tom Kean for Governor (1981) during New Jersey's historic 30-day Kean-Florio gubernatorial recount in 1981.
Mr. Maciag has also served as counsel in election law matters to Fred Thompson for President, Mike Pappas for U.S. Congress, Mike Ferguson for U.S. Congress, Dick Zimmer for U.S. Congress, New Jerey State Legislature races including Bill Baroni for N.J. State Senate and Bill Baroni for Assembly, and in many local election law matters to state, county and municipal candidates, Charter Change groups, and political committees throughout New Jersey, including candidate representation and election law litigation in Republican, Democratic and Independent campaigns throughout New Jersey, including in Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union, Somerset, Morris, Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Gloucester and Camden counties.
